Waterproofing to walls and exposed details
Most persistent damp in a rendered wall has an entry point somewhere less obvious than the wall face — an unprotected parapet top, a planter box against the house, a retaining wall with nothing behind it, or a junction where two details were never resolved.
Waterproofing work is carried out where it addresses an identified path for water, as part of restoring the wall rather than as a blanket promise about the building.
What we look for
Damp patches that return after rain
Recurring tide marks or dark patches on one part of an elevation usually indicate a specific entry point above or behind it.
Efflorescence and salt bloom
Water travelling through masonry carries salts to the surface, where they crystallise and push coatings off the wall.
Planters and retaining walls against the house
Soil held against a wall keeps it permanently wet unless there is a working membrane and drainage behind it.
Parapet and capping tops
Flat, exposed tops take the full weather and are a very common way for water to get into an otherwise sound wall.
How the work is carried out

Find the entry point
We look at where the water is going in, not just where it is showing, including tops, junctions, penetrations and ground levels.

Prepare and detail
Surfaces are prepared and the details that matter — upstands, terminations, junctions — are resolved before any membrane goes on.

Apply the membrane
The appropriate membrane is applied to the manufacturer's specification for the exposure and the substrate involved.

Restore the finish
The wall is then repaired, re-textured and coated so the waterproofing sits within a complete, finished system.
We do not describe finished walls as waterproof. Waterproofing addresses identified paths for water in a specific location.
