Boundary, garden and retaining wall restoration
Boundary and garden walls weather faster than anything else on a property. They are exposed on both faces, often sit in wet soil at the base, and take a constant soaking from reticulation, so render breaks down there long before it does on the house.
Restoring them is what usually lifts the whole frontage — a well-presented home behind a streaked, cracked boundary wall still reads as tired from the street.
What we look for
Deterioration at the base
Render blowing off in the bottom courses is the classic sign of moisture and salts rising out of the ground and reticulation spray.
Green and black staining
Shaded, damp faces grow algae and mould that returns quickly once the surface has become porous.
Cracked or missing capping
An unprotected top lets water straight into the core of the wall, where it works outwards in both directions.
Colour no longer matches the house
Walls done at different times, or patched over the years, drift apart in both colour and texture.
How the work is carried out
- 01
Assess both faces
Street and garden sides are inspected together, along with ground levels, capping and any reticulation hitting the wall.
- 02
Repair and rebuild
Blown and unsound render is removed and rebuilt, with tops and terminations dealt with so the wall is not left open to weather.
- 03
Re-texture and coat
The wall is re-textured in full and finished with the Dulux Acratex system in a colour that works with the house.
